Scissor Lift Training Covers Theory Online and the Machine in Person
ANSI A92.24 splits MEWP operator training into theory and a practical session on a representative machine. The online course delivers the theory: hazards, pre-start inspection, controls, load limits, and stability.
Your operator is not ready until a qualified person watches them run the lift. Then familiarize them with the exact model they will use, including the manual, the decals, and the emergency lowering controls.
OSHA Scissor Lift Requirements
In construction, OSHA treats scissor lifts as mobile scaffolds under 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L. 1926.454(a) requires training by a qualified person on the hazards, the fall protection system, load capacity, and safe use.
Guardrails on the platform are the fall protection on most scissor lifts. Keep the gate closed and stand on the deck, never on the rails.
