HAZWOPER Train the Trainer Course
1910.120(e)(5) Sets the Trainer Qualification
Under 1910.120(e)(5), HAZWOPER trainers must be qualified to instruct the subjects they teach. They show it by completing a training program for teaching those subjects, or through academic credentials and instructional experience.
A 40 hour train the trainer course gives your trainer the documented program; their field experience still has to back it up. Pick someone with time on HAZWOPER sites who can answer questions about your equipment and decontamination line.
HAZWOPER Instructor Certification Covers 8, 24, and 40 Hour Classes
Q Safety Academy describes the course as preparing the trainer to teach the 8-, 24-, and 40-hour HAZWOPER classes. The trainer can then run your annual refreshers in-house instead of buying a seat for every worker each year.
Workers trained in-house still need the supervised field days under 1910.120(e)(3): three for the 40-hour course and one for the 24-hour course.
