Advanced Medical Certification sells its CPR, AED & First Aid Certification online for $59. It covers adult, child and infant CPR, AED use, and first aid, and the digital CPR card downloads the moment your worker passes.

Add hands-on practice on a mannequin before you count that worker as your trained first aid responder.

CPR Certification Courses for Workplaces

What the AMC CPR Course Covers

Chest compressions, rescue breathing, and AED use for adults, children and infants, plus choking relief and first aid for trauma, environmental injuries and illness. Study material comes as in-browser modules, PDFs, videos and audiobooks.

The exam is 20 multiple-choice questions with an 80% pass mark. Retakes are free, and a worker can skip straight to the exam. AMC says board-certified physicians design the course to current ILCOR guidelines.

Online CPR Needs a Hands-On Practice Session

AMC's course has no classroom skills exam. It offers a Skills Webinar & Checklist instead.

OSHA's position: online training alone does not meet the first aid and CPR training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.151. In its August 2, 2012 interpretation letter, OSHA points to its first aid best-practices guide, which calls for practice on mannequins and with a partner. Use the online course for the knowledge and the card, then run a practice session on a mannequin and an AED trainer at your shop.

How AMC Describes Acceptance

AMC's wording: the course is “guaranteed acceptance or your money back,” and its courses “meet the same guidelines and standards as the ECC/ILCOR and OSHA.” Its broader “accepted by over 98%” figure refers to health care providers, not employers in general.

AMC courses are accredited by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine, not the American Heart Association. If a customer, owner or union contract calls for an AHA or Red Cross card by name, check before you buy.
