Aerial lift and scissor lift training online covers the theory portion of operator training. Online covers theory only; a hands-on evaluation on the lift the person will operate is still required before anyone runs it.
Q Safety Academy sells separate scissor lift and boom lift courses, each in English and Spanish, along with heavy equipment and forklift classroom courses.

MEWP Training
MEWP, short for mobile elevating work platform, is the ANSI A92 term covering scissor lifts and boom lifts. ANSI A92.24 sets the training content, and the MEWP courses on this page follow it. Scissor lifts are Group A MEWPs; boom lifts are Group B.
After the online course, the operator still needs familiarization on the specific model and an evaluation by a qualified person. That practical evaluation completes the training record.

Hands-On Evaluation Still Required
Use the certificate of completion from Q Safety Academy as the record of the theory portion. Add the practical training and the evaluation on the machine the person will run. Read the forklift evaluation requirements.

Aerial Lift Training FAQ
Can you get aerial lift certification online?
Partly. The online course covers theory and ends with a certificate of completion. Certification is complete only after hands-on familiarization and an evaluation on the lift the person will operate.
What are the OSHA aerial lift training requirements?
Under 29 CFR 1926.453, only authorized persons may operate an aerial lift. Operators need training on the hazards and safe operation of the equipment, and ANSI A92.24 adds familiarization and a practical evaluation.
Is scissor lift training different from aerial lift training?
Yes. Scissor lifts and boom lifts are different MEWP groups, so Q Safety Academy sells a separate course for each.
Does MEWP training include a card?
The course issues a certificate of completion from Q Safety Academy. It is not an OSHA card or an IPAF PAL card.
Does an online forklift course certify the operator?
No. Under 1910.178(l) the employer certifies the operator after formal instruction, practical training, and an evaluation in the workplace.
