HAZWOPER Training Online: 40, 24 & 8 Hour
Prices as shown on qsafetyacademy.com, October 14, 2026
HAZWOPER training under 29 CFR 1910.120(e) has two parts: classroom instruction and supervised field experience. An online HAZWOPER course covers the classroom hours; your employer still provides the field days under a trained supervisor.
General site workers need 40 hours off site plus three days of supervised field experience. Occasional workers and those in areas below exposure limits need 24 hours plus one day. Everyone needs an 8-hour refresher each year.

HAZWOPER Field Experience Requirement
The online course does not satisfy the supervised field-experience requirement. Line up the supervisor and the site before the worker starts, so the classroom and field portions finish close together.
Shipping and transporting hazardous materials falls under 49 CFR instead: DOT HAZMAT training online.
Each course issues a certificate of completion from Q Safety Academy. Keep it with the field-experience record and the annual refresher dates.
HAZWOPER Training FAQ
How much does HAZWOPER training cost?
On October 14, 2026, Q Safety Academy listed the 40-hour course at $200, the 24-hour course at $150, and the 8-hour refresher at $100.
Can you take HAZWOPER training online?
Yes for the classroom hours. 1910.120(e)(3) also requires supervised field experience, which an online course cannot provide.
Is the online 40-hour course enough to work on a HAZWOPER site?
No. 1910.120(e)(3) also requires three days of actual field experience under a trained, experienced supervisor.
Is a HAZWOPER certificate an OSHA card?
No. Each course issues a certificate of completion from Q Safety Academy, not a Department of Labor card.
How often is the HAZWOPER refresher due?
Each year, under 1910.120(e)(8).
