MEWP training online covers the theory ANSI A92.24 requires for mobile elevating work platform operators. Q Safety Academy sells a Scissor Lift course for Group A machines and an Aerial Lift course for Group B, each $24.95 in English or Spanish.
Match the course to the machine group, then finish with a practical evaluation on the lift.
MEWP Scissor Lift (ES) · $24.95 · Self-paced
MEWP Training by Machine Group
ANSI A92.22 sorts MEWPs into two groups. Group A keeps the platform inside the tipping lines, as on a scissor lift. Group B lets the platform reach beyond them, as on a boom lift.
MEWP Types 1, 2, and 3
Type 1 travels only in the stowed position. Type 2 travels elevated with controls on the chassis. Type 3 travels elevated with controls on the platform, which covers most scissor and boom lifts on job sites.
MEWP Operator Training Ends With a Practical Evaluation
ANSI A92.24 requires theory plus a practical session on a representative machine, then familiarization on the model the operator will use. The online course delivers the theory; a qualified person evaluates the operator on the machine.
On boom lifts, 1926.453(b)(2)(v) requires a body belt or harness with a lanyard attached to the boom or basket. Cover it during the practical.
